Why should I choose The Great House Detective for my home inspection?
Matt Mecham (aka The Great House Detective) is the only home inspection professional in Cache Valley with a BS in Construction Management along with more than a decade of experience in commercial and residential construction. He knows how homes should be built and can quickly identify problems that might exist. He is certified by InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) which requires not only an intensive instructional course for initial certification but a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education each year to maintain certification.
How long should I plan for the inspection?
Most home inspections will require approximately 3 hours to complete. You do not have to accompany the inspector during the entire process, but the inspector will want to do a walk-through of the home with you during the last hour.
Who hires the inspector?
Most often the hiring is done by the person buying the home. Often your realtor or mortgage company will have recommendations of who to hire.
How do I pay for the inspection?
Payment can be made via PayPal link on the website or via credit card at the time of the inspection.
Can the house fail an inspection?
An inspection is a snapshot of the condition of the home at the time of the inspection. There is no failing score from an inspection. An inspection is designed to identify critical problems in the property that may not be noticeable to the homeowner or purchaser.
Will I get a report of my inspection?
Yes. A thorough home inspection will typically generate a detailed report which will be presented to you in digital format. The report will include photos or videos of your home detailing issues which were discovered.
